We are sharing sad news that touches the Brentsville Democrats deeply and the entire county and country as a whole. A deep defender of democracy has passed and it is with great sadness that we are writing to share the news that our dearest friend Kathy Mumma passed away this weekend. 

Kathy was a valued volunteer in the Brentsville District and a staunch defender of our democracy. To many of us in the Brentsville and Gainesville districts we knew of Kathy’s dedication with the inception and efforts through Indivisible Nova West and then as a leader with Postcards for Change. She was the backbone of our efforts to reach voters. Kathy was a regular and frequent election volunteer at the Buckland Mills and Burke Nickens precincts. Her devotion to protect the vote and inform voters was always without question or hesitation. 

One could always count on Kathy to support an event, write postcards or organize for our democratic efforts. She would show up early and stay late to make sure that the work was shared. Her departure will leave a huge space in the hearts of many of us.

All who know Kathy would agree that she would want us to do all we can to defend democracy and ensure our future.
