Woodbridge, VA — On Wednesday, December 19th, Delegate Rozia Henson (D-Prince William) announced his candidacy for re-election to the Virginia House of Delegates. Delegate Henson was first elected to the Virginia House of Delegates in November 2023. He currently serves as the Deputy Whip of the House Democratic Caucus and as a Member of the House Committees on Privileges and Elections, Health and Human Services, and Communications, Technology, and Innovation.
“I am proud of what I have accomplished representing the values and interests of my home district, House District 19,” said Delegate Henson. “However, my work representing our community is far from over. That’s why I’m announcing my candidacy today — December 19th — for re-election to the House of Delegates representing Virginia’s 19th House District.”
“I first ran for office with the goal to make lives easier across House District 19. Elevating our shared community values is a journey that has only just begun,” adds Delegate Henson. “I look forward to continuing to build a brighter future, together, where every voice can be heard, every family can thrive, and every person in the Commonwealth of Virginia has the same opportunities to reach their full potential. I’m all in, and I invite you to join me.”
As a trailblazer, Delegate Henson has broken barriers and brought diverse perspectives to the Virginia House of Delegates, working towards a more equitable and inclusive Virginia. During the 2024 Legislative Session, Delegate Henson introduced and passed legislation to protect marriage equality, mitigate workforce shortages in assisted living and nursing facilities, address vehicular speeding issues, improve public notification policies for local governments, and designate the month of July in Virginia as Uterine Fibroids Awareness Month annually. Delegate Henson has also piloted the Virginia General Assembly’s first-ever placement program with SOAR365 to create professional opportunities for individuals with disabilities.
